Paul Goodnight was born in Chicago, Illinois, though his formative years were spent in New England.  It is noted that he used art as a means of communication, particularly after his return from service in the Vietnam war where he was traumatized and so rendered unable to speak.  Despite his many struggles and triumphs, art has prevailed as a source of strength and the beacon of his determination.

He earned a bachelor's Degree from Massachusetts College of Art in 1976.  He has since gone on to become a celebrated and accomplished artist of world reknown whose work includes strong African imagery and historical reference.  His world travels have also influenced his artwork, adding a depth of cultural perspective to the outstanding work of this Iconic Artist.
